Heat Your Way to Better Skin with Thermage®

With all the streaming music options out there these days, you wonder if a regular broadcast radio has a future. If it doesn’t, at least the radio waves do. They can be used to tighten your skin.
Wholly Casey Kasem!
It’s true. At Saltz, we offer Thermage, which uses radiofrequency energy delivered beneath the epidermis to tighten the skin and trigger the production of new collagen. Thermage has been called the “facelift without surgery.”
How Thermage works
You may think of your skin as the surface that you can see and touch. Your skin, which is the largest organ of the human body, actually consists of three layers. The epidermis is the relatively thin outer layer of the skin. Beneath it is the dermis, a collagen-rich layer that is responsible for most of the skin’s structure. Below the dermis is the subcutaneous layer, also known as the fat layer, where even more collagen fibers live.
Every year after your 20th birthday, your body produces one percentage point less collagen. Also, the remaining collagen breaks down more than in your younger days. This decrease in collagen allows the sagging and wrinkle formation that is common with aging skin.
Thermage tightens and renews the skin’s collagen in all three layers of the skin. The procedure delivers capacitive radiofrequency technology onto the skin. It penetrates the epidermis and enters the dermis and fat layer. Here, the radiofrequency energy converts to heat. When heat is delivered into the lower layers of the skin two things to happen. First, the web of collagen immediately tightens, improving skin texture and tone. Second, for the next four to six months, the body creates new collagen in the area as a response to the perceived injury that the heat creates. Thermage is different than most skin-tightening treatments, as its results are obtained in a single treatment.
Where can I have Thermage applied?
Thermage is safe for use just about anywhere on your face, even delicate areas around your eyes. It can also be used on the abdomen, upper arms, back of the hands, thighs, and buttocks. Thermage treatments take anywhere from 20 minutes to one hour, depending on the treatment area.
