In this month’s first blog we introduced a new treatment called Scarlet SRF and we’re pretty excited about it at Saltz Plastic Surgery and Spa Vitoria. The treatment is taking microneedling to the next level by fusing two treatments into one, microneedling and radiofrequency skin rejuvenation.
How is Scarlet SRF taking microneedling to the next level?
At Spa Vitoria, we’ve offered traditional microneedling for a long time, but we’re excited to add short-pulse radiofrequency to the treatment using Scarlet. When using Scarlet the microneedling tips penetrate through the top layer of skin and delivers a short pulse of radiofrequency energy at the pin’s maximum depth. The results give an extra boost for collegian repair leaving a more youthful glow.
How does Scarlet SRF work?
Your Spa Vitoria aesthetician will provide a more relaxing experience by applying topical numbing cream across your treatment areas. Then using the Scarlet SRF handpiece your aesthetician will move across the treatment areas allowing the microneedles to penetrate the skin and deliver the RF energy. There are typically two passes made across the treatment areas. The pulse that occurs as the microneedle is penetrating the skin is quite brief, but it is delivered directly into the dermis.
How does this improve the skin? When RF energy enters the dermis, it converts instantly into heat energy. That’s the key because when the body senses heat in the dermis it believes a wound has occurred and it responds with a wound-healing mechanism. This involves immediate remodeling of existing collagen in the area. This immediately tightens the skin, breaks down texture problems, and works to shrink large pores. But more importantly, new production of collagen is initiated to heal the perceived wounds. The skin now has increased collagen production for a period of weeks with no downtime and no side effects.
