Just about all of us have boring eyelashes that misbehave until tamed by an eyelash curler and lots of mascara. But at Saltz Plastic Surgery and Saltz Spa Vitoria, we now have a better way — the keratin lash lift.
This new procedure, sometimes called a perm for your eyelashes, dramatically improves the look and visibility of your eyelashes for up to three months.
What is the keratin lash lift?
The goal of a keratin lash lift at Saltz Spa Vitoria is to take your natural eyelashes and shape them into a desired upward shape that makes all the lashes flow in the same direction. This makes every lash appear longer and makes them far more visible. The effect also makes your eyes look more open and awake. The results are striking; and the procedure applies keratin to your lashes, which improves their health. What’s not to like?
How is the keratin lash lift done?
The lash lift procedure starts with our aesthetician placing soft silicone pads on your eyelids just above your eyelashes. The eyelashes are then gently wiped upward onto the silicone pads, where they lightly adhere. A keratin solution is applied to the lashes, which keeps them bent upward and on the silicone. Plus, the keratin solution nourishes the lashes. You’ve probably heard of keratin being used in all kinds of hair products; it improves your eyelashes the same way. The keratin solution is kept on for 10 minutes. This solution is then removed and another serum replaces it that locks the curl into the eyelashes. This is left for eight minutes, and then your eyelash lift is done.
Does a keratin lash lift hurt?
This eyelash lift procedure is completely painless. You simply have your eyes closed for the duration of the treatment.
Does the keratin lash lift damage my eyelashes?
No. The keratin eyelash lift is a gentle procedure that, if anything, improves the health of your eyelashes. That’s because keratin has been proven to be beneficial for hair health. When the eyelashes are first wiped upward onto the silicone, we make sure there isn’t any pulling.
How long does a keratin lash lift procedure take?
An eyelash lift takes about 45 minutes. If you also want your eyelashes dyed/darkened during the procedure it adds another 15 minutes.
How long will the results of my keratin lash lift last?
Your eyelashes will stay lifted for 8 to 12 weeks. The eyelashes treated by the lash lift don’t begin to sag back to their former position, but new eyelashes grow in and are not shaped, so the results gradually diminish. The average person sheds 4-5 eyelashes every day, so after five weeks or so, they will have shed about one-third of their lashes and they are replaced with untreated, straighter lashes.
Can I wear makeup after a keratin lash lift?
Many patients find their eyelashes are so much more visible with the upward shaping that they no longer feel the need to apply mascara to accentuate them. However, two days after your eyelash lift you can apply mascara and eyeliner just as you did before.
Are there any risks or downtime with a keratin lash lift?
There isn’t any recovery after a keratin eyelash lift. For the first 48 hours, you need to not get your eyelashes wet. This is because the serum that maintains their new shape is still active and you don’t want to wash it away. After that, you have no restrictions.
As for risks, the keratin serum is nourishing for your eyelashes, and the fixing solution is derived from natural products, so we’ve found our patients to have no problems with reactions and the like.
