What is Aveli?

There are many treatments that claim to cure cellulite, but how many of them actually solve the problem permanently? We think the skepticism around cellulite should end now.

It's time to treat cellulite from the inside out. Aveli, similar to Cellfina, reduces cellulite on the butt and thighs permanently by severing the fibrous bands that tether your skin to the structures below, causing dimples. These bands are called septa.

Septa bands sometimes stiffen or shrink over time and pull on the skin from the inside, which leads to the dimples that we call cellulite. With a minimally invasive procedure, we insert the aveli tool that will then release your skin from those septa bands. This makes this treatment the most permanent and effective treatment on the market.

Although Avéli is an effective treatment for cellulite for many, not everyone may qualify as a candidate. Ideal candidates for Avéli are those who are interested in eliminating the appearance of cellulite on their bodies. Candidates for Avéli should:

  • Be in good overall health
  • Be a non-smoker
  • Have a healthy BMI
  • Be free of any active infections in the treated area
  • Maintain realistic expectations regarding the results of your treatment

Yes. Cleared by the FDA, Avéli is both safe and effective at treating cellulite. Its new technology is also designed to deliver long-term results.

Prior to your Avéli treatment, the treated area will be numbed with local anesthesia to prevent any discomfort. At Saltz Plastic Surgery, Dr. Renato Saltz and our team are dedicated to prioritizing patient safety and comfort with each Avéli treatment. By using Avéli, cellulite removal is virtually pain-free.

The typical duration of an Avéli procedure can take up to about one hour. However, depending on the size of your treatment area, this duration may vary.

Although safe and effective, Avéli can still come with several side effects, including:

  • Bruising
  • Tenderness
  • Swelling
  • Redness
  • Slight pain in the treated area

These side effects are very common after Avéli procedures and will most likely be felt in the 24 hours after your treatment. Within 30 days, these side effects will disappear independently, revealing smoother, improved skin.

After numbing the area, your provider makes a small incision and inserts the handheld, FDA-cleared device under the skin to manually identify and release each cellulite-causing band. This targeted approach ensures thorough, predictable smoothing.

Yes, you can get Avéli if you plan to lose weight, but timing matters. Avéli treats cellulite, not fat, so weight loss won't "undo" the procedure. However, for optimal, stable results, many providers recommend being close to your goal weight before treatment. Significant weight changes after Avéli may affect your overall contour.

Yes. Avéli is safe before or after pregnancy. However, many patients choose to wait until after pregnancy and breastfeeding because body changes, including skin laxity and weight fluctuations, may influence the appearance of cellulite.

The results are considered long-lasting. However, aging, weight fluctuations, and hormonal changes may create new cellulite in untreated areas over time.

Avéli is a non-invasive cellulite removal treatment, making it so that patients do not have to worry about a recovery period at all. At most, patients will experience tenderness or swelling within the treated area for the first two days after their procedure. After 48 hours, most Avéli patients are able to return to their normal routines. Overall, full healing from Avéli treatments can take up to 30 days, but no special actions other than avoiding strenuous physical activity is required. Depending on your unique health condition, Dr. Saltz may provide you with specific aftercare guidelines to help you achieve a successful recovery.

No. Avéli is designed to provide long-lasting results after one in-office procedure. During a s single procedure, cellulite dimples can be eliminated. Multiple sessions are not typically required.

You can expect to see improvement in your cellulite almost immediately after treatment. However, continued improvements in your skin can be noticed in the 30 days following your treatment. This is mostly due to the fact that swelling and bruising will have subsided by the end of one month, allowing you to see more clearly the improvements Avéli provided to the skin in your treated area.

Patients have reported that the visible reduction of their cellulite after receiving Avéli treatments can last up to one year.

Maintaining Avéli results primarily involves supporting your skin and body with healthy habits. Keeping weight stable, staying active, and maintaining good muscle tone can help your results look smoother over time. Hydrated skin and good circulation also support a refined appearance. While the released septa won't grow back, ongoing skincare, such as lymphatic massage, radiofrequency treatments, or body contouring, may help enhance overall tone as you age.

Preparation is simple. Your provider may recommend avoiding blood-thinning medications or supplements (like ibuprofen, aspirin, vitamin E, or fish oil) for a few days before treatment to minimize bruising. Plan to wear loose, comfortable clothing, and arrange transportation if advised. You may also need to avoid heavy exercise and alcohol the day before your appointment.

Scarring is minimal to none. Avéli requires only a very small incision, typically just a few millimeters, to insert the device. These tiny entry points usually heal well and become barely noticeable over time.

Avéli is an in-office procedure. It is performed under local anesthesia in a comfortable outpatient setting, and patients typically go home shortly after their appointment. No hospital stay or general anesthesia is required.

Unlike non-invasive treatments that focus on skin tightening or reducing fat, Avéli addresses cellulite at its structural source by releasing the fibrous bands beneath the skin. This leads to more immediate, noticeable, and long-lasting improvement in true cellulite dimpling. Non-invasive options may require multiple sessions and often provide superficial or temporary results, whereas Avéli offers a one-time, mechanically precise solution.
