Buttocks LiftSalt Lake City & Park City
Not to be confused with a Brazilian butt lift, butt lift surgery (gluteoplasty) lifts and tightens the skin of the buttocks. Excess skin is removed and the surrounding tissue repositioned, creating a more youthful and pleasing body contour. Gluteoplasty may also lessen the appearance of cellulite. The goal of a butt lift is to return the body to a more natural appearance after loss of skin elasticity due to extreme weight loss or age-related changes. The end result is a shapelier you.
In some candidates, a butt lift alone may flatten out the buttocks too much. In these cases, a butt lift may be performed in conjunction with fat grafting or other augmentation methods to increase the volume and curvature of the buttocks.
Am I a candidate for butt lift?
Butt lift surgery is usually performed on individuals with large amounts of loose, hanging skin on the buttocks and back of the upper thighs. Although small amounts of fat can be removed along with excess skin, a butt lift is not intended to remove significant fat deposits. You should be at or near your ideal weight before considering a butt lift.
The butt lift procedure
Before undergoing the procedure, you will consult with Dr. Saltz to review your goals and desired outcomes for your buttocks lift. You should do some research before your consultation, including checking out before-and-after photos and learning about the surgery.
The surgery itself can involve one or more of the following procedure options:
- Lipo-Injection — This is a fat transfer technique using fat from the abdomen or thigh to restore and/or increase volume.
- Body Contouring — This technique uses a combination of fat suction through a surgical vacuum and surgical repositioning of muscle and tissue.
- Reduction Treatments — If you would like to reduce the size of your buttocks, this can be done through a combination of lipectomy and liposculpture.
- Liposuction — Dr. Saltz uses a surgical tube (cannula) to reshape the contour of your own body fat, creating a smoother, shapelier appearance.
Dr. Saltz and his team will listen to your aesthetic goals and assess your medical requirements to tailor the procedure to your unique needs.
Recovery times for buttocks lift surgery will vary depending on which procedures you have. Typically, buttocks lifts require taking two to three weeks off from work, and a full recovery can take up to six months. Every procedure is different with a butt lift, so Dr. Saltz will discuss your individual timeline for recovery and returning to physical activity.
