Hydrafacial FAQ
HydraFacial is hydradermabrasion. What exactly is that? It combines deep cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, hydration, and anti-oxidant delivery simultaneously in a four-step process. The treatment delivers some amazing improvements in your skin, all in a relaxing, painless 30 minutes.
Many skin treatments, such as laser resurfacing and chemical peels, can cause hyperpigmentation issues with certain skin tones. But HydraFacial is suitable for all skin types, including thinning, aging skin and dry or oily skin. Even if you have sensitive skin that erupts after a typical facial extraction session, it won’t overreact to a HydraFacial. Plus, once the exfoliation and extraction is complete, HydraFacial delivers different serums into your skin that target your specific skin type and specific skin problems.
These are skincare problems we target at Saltz Spa Vitoria with HydraFacial:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Elasticity and firmness
- Uneven tone
- Brown spots
- Oily, congested skin
At Saltz Plastic Surgery/Saltz Spa Vitoria, our HydraFacial treatment is a four-step process that cleanses, evenly exfoliates, and extracts impurities and dead skin cells while at the same time replenishing vital nutrients including antioxidants, peptides, and hyaluronic acid. The treatment is delivered through a proprietary wand that combines a gentle rotating brush with suction pressure. This takes the place of the crystals sprayed on with microdermabrasion. The HydraFacial gently vacuums out your pores, while pushing in skin improving serums.
This is what happens in your 30-minute Saltz HydraFacial:
One of the cool features of the HydraFacial is that it can be varied depending on your specific skin type. This happens with the infusion of various serums.
After cleaning and exfoliation, the HydraFacial procedure infuses various serums to replenish your skin. We offer four different serums, depending on your unique skin needs.
At Spa Vitoria, your skincare expert will detail things you can do to keep your skin looking its best all the time. Those will be specific pieces of advice on skincare products such as exfoliators, cleansers, and other tips.
But you can generally break down what you can do in time increments:
- Annually — Once every year you need to see a board-certified dermatologist to screen your skin for skin cancer.
- Monthly — We advise our Spa Vitoria patients that monthly HydraFacials are a great time frame. The goal is to have professional treatment to deeply cleanse, extract, and hydrate the skin.
- Daily and weekly — We can advise you on products and steps to take on a daily and weekly basis. These include using a quality facial cleanser morning and night, moisturizing twice daily, and exfoliating with a mask or scrub once each week.
- All the time — Wear sunscreen of 30+ SPF, drink lots of water, eat great food, and don’t smoke.
At Spa Vitoria we’re huge fans of the HydraFacial because it is great for all skin types. Even the most sensitive skin easily tolerates these treatments. We adjust the serums delivered in the third phase of every HydraFacial to specifically match your skin type, and this includes sensitive skin types.
HydraFacials are effective for treating acne outbreaks and the clogged pores behind them. They aren’t as effective for treating acne scarring, although with the skin improving boosters, they are bound to improve things overall.
Still, at Spa Vitoria we offer other treatments, such as microneedling and various chemical peels, that would be more effective for specifically addressing acne scarring.
Hydrafacials usually take 30 to 40 minutes to complete. This is because there are multiple steps of the procedure. First, your skin will go through a detox, which involves a strong water-based solution. This solution causes lymphatic drainage, which increases your blood flow and removes any lingering toxins.
After your skin goes through the detox, it is then cleansed and exfoliated. Your exfoliated skin will then be ready for the extraction process. This is when all the dirt and oil is sucked out of your pores via a suction device. Once all of the impurities are removed, your skin is then properly hydrated and leaves your skin feeling completely rejuvenated.
No, Hydrafacials have absolutely no downtime once the treatment is completed. You can safely resume your daily activities without any issues.
Many people have mixed feelings about facials that include extraction because extractions hurt. Plus, they tend to leave the skin red and sensitive for a day or so. Other exfoliation procedures can leave the skin dry and sensitive.
With HydraFacial, there is none of that. The procedure is relaxing and painless. And there isn’t any recovery time. The HydraFacial is completely non-invasive.
If you follow the aesthetic industry at all, you’ve probably heard about the HydraFacial because it delivers visible results without any downtime or sensitivity. The HydraFacial delivers vastly improved hydration, while helping to eliminate or lessen the appearance of fine lines, hyperpigmentation, oil and congestion, and even creases in the nasolabial folds. Despite involving a light chemical peel and pore extraction, the procedure has no pain — it actually is a pleasant spa-like experience — and doesn’t have the usual redness and irritation that follows most peels/exfoliations.
The duration of your results varies by the patient, but your clearer pores, improved hydration, and the effects from your anti-oxidant serums endure. You’ll see visible improvement in your skin after just a single HydraFacial treatment, but to continue keeping your skin looking its best, we recommend monthly HydraFacials.
The HydraFacial uses a unique, patented Vortex-Fusion delivery system to exfoliate, extract, and hydrate the skin, and the spiral design delivers painless extractions at the same time. That’s the only tool used. It is a single handpiece with different heads for the stage in the process.
Unlike extractions with traditional facials, where a metal pore extractor is used to clear clogged pores, these are NOT used in a HydraFacial. The patented handpiece is the only tool involved, and it provides painless infusion and extraction simultaneously. That’s why patients love the fact that their facial skin isn’t red and inflamed after a HydraFacial as it can be following a traditional facial with extractions.
HydraFacials improve your skin texture, tone, and appearance. This is because the HydraFacial wand both removes impurities and then infuses beneficial serums that match your specific skin type.
This is possible because the HydraFacial wand provides deep exfoliation that cleans your pores, removing debris and allowing for better penetration of the facial skin serums.
These treatments can’t damage the skin in any way. They only can improve your skin.
It is not advised for anyone on Accutane (Isotretinoin) to have any skin treatments of any kind until at least six months after their course of Accutane has been completed. The reason for this is that Accutane thins the skin as its way of decreasing acne, and any suction or peeling of the skin can lead to scarring and additional skin issues.
Once you are off Accutane for at least six months you can then have a HydraFacial or other skin treatment at Spa Vitoria.
While pregnant women are skeptical of getting a spa treatment, Hydrafacials are highly recommended. This is because Hydrafacials can produce equal or greater results without having to use lasers or chemicals. It can help reduce skin sensitivity, treat fine lines and wrinkles, and smooth out skin texture.
However, it should be noted that you must consider a few things before getting a Hydrafacial while pregnant. First, you have to consult your doctor to see if it is safe. You then have to do some research and learn what ingredients are used in a Hydrafacial. If there is an ingredient you could have a reaction to, you will have to refrain from getting a Hydrafacial.
It is also important to know the current status of your health. Having certain underlying medical conditions could cause complications with the Hydrafacial treatment. For example, if you have eczema or inflammation on your face, you might have to wait before you can get a Hydrafacial.
Yes, Hydrafacials can be an immense help for people suffering from acne problems. It is a medical-grade treatment that can do a deep cleaning of your pores, reduce the amount of oil on your face, and hydrate the skin. Acne is typically caused by a build-up of oil, dirt, and grime in the hair follicles. A Hydrafacial can cleanse the skin of these impurities to help you have clear skin.
