Cellfina™ and Cellulite

Cellfina Salt Lake City, UT If you’re a woman, no matter what kind of shape you’re in you probably have some cellulite. True — 9 out of 10 women have cellulite. And all nine of those women aren’t happy about it! You hear infomercials about creams that supposedly remove cellulite, but the truth is they don’t work. In fact, little has been done in the aesthetic world to deal with cellulite.

That changed when Cellfina™ came out. Cellfina™ is a relatively new FDA-approved procedure that dramatically improves the appearance of cellulite for at least three years. Dr. Saltz offers Cellfina™ treatments at his Salt Lake City and Park City locations.

What is Cellfina™?

The cause of cellulite is the connective bands woven throughout the fat in the thighs and buttocks of women. Cellfina™ attacks and breaks those bands in a minimally invasive procedure that only takes about one hour.

What causes cellulite?

Most people think cellulite and fat are related, so that must be why women have cellulite and very few men do because women have higher ratios of body fat. That’s not true. Cellulite forms due to differences in the bands that connect the skin and muscle. Men have thicker bands and more of them. Plus, their bands form a crisscross pattern. This keeps fat in place, but it doesn’t make that fat pucker.

Women have vertical connective bands that trap fat in pockets. At the sites of the connective bands, the skin is pulled down while fat pushes up around it. That is the signature dimpling on the thighs and buttocks that is cellulite.

How does Cellfina™ work?

Once Dr. Saltz has identified your treatment areas, the area is topically anesthetized. The Cellfina™ handpiece is then placed on the target area. It uses a suction stabilizer to pull the skin taut and stretch the cellulite-causing connective bands. The handpiece then inserts a tiny needle to break those connective bands. The released skin bounces back upwards now that it isn’t pulled down, and the appearance of your cellulite dramatically improves.

How long does the procedure take?

A Cellfina™ treatment with Dr. Saltz takes about one hour. During this time, on average, 20 to 30 pinky nail to thumbnail-size dimples can be treated.
