Marie: I’m here with Sheila in Dr. Saltz’s office. Sheila is going to experience Juvederm. Sheila, you have never had any injectable treatment or filler in the past, have you?
Sheila: No, none at all.
Marie: Dr. Saltz is going to inject Sheila and give her a little lip enhancement. Juvederm is a filler that’s created from a natural substance actually found in our skin that diminishes as we age. So it replaces that. It’s a moisture binding agent, so it will give you some natural fullness, softness. You’re going to look great. Prior to treatment, Dr. Saltz did treat a little bit of topical anesthetic on Sheila’s lips to make the treatment more comfortable. It’s not necessary. Some doctors may ice. Other doctors may offer an oral block, like a dental block to make the treatment more comfortable. In this case, we just have some numbing cream on.
Dr. Saltz: So what we’re going to do is, I’m going to use Juvederm to outline her lips, upper and lower lips. I’m going to do a little bit on the philtral columns, which is youthful. And I’m going to to do some volume, too. And we have applied some numbing medication. I combined that with ice and it works very well. Tara will help me, and we’re ready to go.

Sheila: Mm-hmm.
Dr. Saltz: Are you numb?
Sheila: Mm-hmm.
Dr. Saltz: And they raised the corner of the mouth?
Marie: Yeah.
Dr. Saltz: That’s Tara’s job. Better?
Marie: Now take a look, Sheila. What do you think?
Sheila: Oh my god.
Marie: Little change, big difference.
Dr. Saltz: Is that a good thing?
Sheila: It’s a great thing.
Marie: Don’t you look amazing?
Sheila: You just took ten years off my life.
Marie: Now tell me, Sheila, how comfortable or uncomfortable was it?
Sheila: It was a little stingy.
Marie: A little stingy.
Sheila: Yeah, but not intolerable.
Marie: Not unbearable?
Sheila: No, not at all.
Marie: And what do you think of the look, truly? You said you took ten years off.
Sheila: I love it.
